Scary Stories (10 of 10) The Basement

Annie was at home alone watching a movie in the living room when she heard something shatter in the kitchen. At first she thought it was just Pepe, her cat, she went in to see if it was a bad break. She found nothing.

While she was watching the movie, the TV went off suddenly. The remote for it was on the other side of the couch. There was no storm. Annie decided she would go to the basement to check the power box to see if something had come loose. Everything was fine. As she started up the stairs to finish her movie, the door slammed shut before she could get out.

Dark, cold, stiff air around her. Annie was scared. She suddenly felt a deep, warm breath of air on her cheeks. Lifting her hand to see who it was, she felt no one. Close to her dainty ear, a high voice whispered to her "I'm going to get you! You better run."

Annie felt shivers run down her spine so quickly. She felt a cold, lifeless hand cover her mouth. Trying her best to pry it loose, she just couldn't. A sharp pain though her stomach quickly made her drop to the ground.

When Annie's parents got home, they called and called for her. Soon, they opened the door to the basement. They found Annie's body sprawled on the cold floor, blood surrounding her.

As they started up the stairs, the door shut before the could even get out.

Dear friend,
By the time you read this, I am dead.I also am very angry! I was murdered know who killed me! I also know what, when,where, why, and how it happened. I knew things. I think I was beginning to know too many things about too many people. The person who killed me was close. Dangerously close. So close I know what they're doing at this very moment.

Heres what happened. I was at your house. I was looking for my keys. All of a sudden I felt someone or something behind me. I soon felt a brush against my leg. Out of nowhere there was a terrible pain circulating through my entire body. After 3 hours of pain I was able to move. I ran to the mirror and saw blood dripping from my face. I thought it was blood because it was very hot inside. Looking in a mirror I noticed my eyes,nose and mouth were bleeding plus I was sweating blood. Then I noticed giant cuts on both sides of my face from my chin to my... Wait! Wheres my ears? I have no ears!......... By the time you have read this I'm dead. I am also very very angry. I know who killed me and it was you!!!

Scary Stories (8 of 10) Clown Statue

A few years ago, a mother and father decided they needed a break, so they wanted to head out for a night on the town. They called their most trusted babysitter. When the babysitter arrived, the two children were already fast asleep in bed. So the babysitter just got to sit around and make sure everything was okay with the children. Later that night, the babysitter got bored and went to watch TV, but she couldn't watch it downstairs because they did not have cable downstairs (the parents didn't want children watching too much garbage). So, she called them and asked them if she could watch cable in the parent's room. Of course, the parents said it was Okay, but the babysitter had one final request... she asked if she could cover up the clown statue in the corner of the bedroom with a blanket or cloth because it freaked her out. The phone line was silent for a moment, and the father who was talking to the babysitter at the time said, "Take the children and get out of the house... we will call the police. We do not have a clown statue."

A Nightmare for a Dreamgirl

The tragic news of singer/actress and grammy winner Jennifer Hudson's three family losses has been what everybody's been talking about this weekend. The incident began Friday afternoon when Hudson's mother and brother were found in their Englewood home shot and killed. Jennifer flew in from Tampa Bay, Florida to identify the bodies. She then finds that her nephew Julian King, went missing after the double homicide. Amber alerts went out everywhere. The radio. The news. Even the flashing red signs on the Walgreens teleprompter. 7-year old Julian King was found Monday morning in Jason Hudson's SUV that everyone has been looking for. I, for one am devastated that someone could be so cold and heartless. The family will stay in my prayers.

Scary Stories (7 of 10) THE JACKET

One day a young girl named Miah told her mom to make her a dress. Miah was going to go dance.The next night Miah's mom told Miah her dress was ready. Long and sky blue was how the dress looked. That night Miah had her dress on and walked to a bridge by her house. When she crossed the road, a car ran over her. Four years later, two boys were going to go dance. One was excited to go, but the there one wasn't. The two boys were in a car they where about to pass the bridge where Miah got ran over. They saw a girl standing by the bridge they told her to get in the car. "Where are you going ?", asked the boys. "I'm going to go dance", said Miah. "You can go with us we are going too ". The girl looked cold and one of the guys gave her his jacket. They went to the dance and then they droped her off where they found her.The next morning, the guy that gave Miah his jacket went to go look for the girl. He asked a lady if she knew the girl. The lady said: "Yes, that's my daughter. She died four years ago".They went to Miah's tomb and the jacket was on the top of her tomb. And she still haunts that bridge trying to go dancing. Some say that only young boys that are going to dance can see her.

Scary Stories (6 of 10) The Babysitter

It was nine o'clock in the evening. Everybody was sitting on the couch in front of the TV. There were Richard, Brian, Jenny and Doreen, the babysitter.
The telephone rang.
"Maybe it's your mother," said Doreen. She picked up the phone. Before she could say a word, a man laughed hysterically and hung up.
"Who was it?" asked Richard.
"Some nut," said Doreen. "What did I miss?"

At nine-thirty the telephone rang again. Doreen answered it. It was the man who had called before. "I'll be there soon," he said, and he laughed and hung up.
"Who was it?" the children asked.
"Some crazy person," she said.
About ten o'clock the phone rang again. Jenny got it first.
"Hello," she said.
It was the same man. "One more hour," he said, and he laughed and hung up.
"He said, 'One more hour.' What did he mean?" asked Jenny.
"Don't worry," said Doreen. "It's somebody fooling around."
"I'm scared," said Jenny.
About ten-thirty the telephone rang once more. When Doreen picked it up, the man said, "Pretty soon now," and he laughed.
"Why are you doing this?" Doreen screamed, and he hung up.
"Was it that guy again?" asked Brian.
"Yes," said Doreen. "I'm going to call the operator and complain."
The operator told her to call back if it happened again, and she would try to trace the call.

At eleven o'clock the telephone rang again. Doreen answered it. "Very soon now," the man said, and he laughed and hung up.
Doreen called the operator. Almost at once, the phone rang again, this time it was the police. "That person is calling from a telephone upstairs!!" he said. "You'd better leave!! Get out of the house now!!
Just then a door upstairs opened. A man they had never seen before started down the stairs towards them. As they ran toward the front door, she fumbled with turning the lock. Just as she was able to turn the lock, and make their escape, she was stopped by a hand on her shoulder...

Scary Stories (5 of 10) Flashing Lights!

One night a woman went out with her girlfriends. She left the her friend's house fairly late at night, got in her car and onto the deserted highway. She noticed a lone pair of headlights in her rear-view mirror, approaching at a pace just slightly quicker than hers. As the car pulled up behind her she glanced and saw the turn signal on — the car was going to pass — when suddenly it swerved back behind her, pulled up dangerously close to her tailgate and the brights flashed.

Now she was getting nervous. The lights dimmed for a moment and then the brights came back on and the car behind her surged forward. The frightened woman struggled to keep her eyes on the road and fought the urge to look at the car behind her. Finally, her exit approached but the car continued to follow, flashing the brights periodically.

Through every stoplight and turn, it followed her until she pulled into her driveway. She figured her only hope was to make a mad dash into the house and call the police. As she flew from the car, so did the driver of the car behind her — and he screamed, "Lock the door and call the police! Call 911!"

When the police arrived the horrible truth was finally revealed to the woman. The man in the car had been trying to save her. As he pulled up behind her and his headlights illuminated her car, he saw the silhouette of a man with a butcher knife rising up from the back seat to stab her, so he flashed his brights and the figure crouched back down.

The moral of the story: Always check the back seat!

Aren't You Glad You Didn't Turn on the Light?

Two college roommates were complete opposites, one liked to study while the other liked to party. In preparation for their upcoming midterms, the studious roommate (Jane) planned a Friday night of studying while the partier (Mary) decided to go to a frat party.

The two were friends, regardless of their differences, and while Mary got ready for the party, she tried to get Jane to go. Jane insisted on studying and Mary set out for the party. Jane agreed to leave the door unlocked, so that Mary wouldn't have to bring her keys.

While Mary was at the party, she met up with another group of friends and they convinced Mary to stay at their place for the night. Mary agreed but had to stop back at her room to get her keys. It was about 2 a.m. when Mary got back. She snuck in and grabbed her keys, leaving the lights off, not wanting to wake her roommate.

The next morning Mary walked home, intent to ask Jane for some study help. When she reached her room and opened the door she saw Jane murdered at her desk! Written on the wall in Jane's blood was "Aren't you glad you didn't turn on the light?"

Book Review:Stargirl

The characters in this book are:Stargirl, Leo Borlock, and Archie. Stargirl is a very magical person. She's someone that would make people whip around in awe. Such a magical character, sweet as sugar, kind as an organ doner(yes, that kind,maybe even more kind), as cool as a mountain peak in Alaska. She's everyone,no,she's everything. Leo Borlock falls in love with Stargirl but noone likes her and now that Leo and Stargirl are together everyone at Mica High School is treating Leo differently so Leo asks Archie for help and he says "Do you feel more affectionate toward them or her"?But then Leo urges to become the very thing that can destroy her......normal! Stargirl is Stargirl no more, she is Jessica , her real name. Stargirl or Jessica is highly unhappy. Next picture isn't so good. If you want to find out what happen's next then you must read it.Jerry Spinelli has put together a true love story for everyone. I, Miah give the author five stars and the book two thumbs up.You should consider reading it, you might learn something.

On a cold, stormy night, a lady was home alone because her husband was out of town. She heard a baby crying outside of her door. She wanted to get the baby but was concerned that something else was wrong. It sounded as if the baby was moving and crawling off the edge of her porch. She was worried, but instinct told her otherwise. She then called the police. They told her they will come and check it out but to "STAY IN THE HOUSE." Apparently, there was a crazed killer going around playing a recording of a baby's cry. When the women take the bait and go outside, the killer would then... kill them. Submitted by Jaden

Scary Stories (2 of 10) Candyman...

Candyman helped his friend Rufus run away from the plantation but was later caught. Rufus told the slaveowners that Candyman helped him escape, and the men wanted wanted revenge. They hired some people to cut off Candyman's right hand with a rusty blade and no one came to his aid. There were local beehives near Cabrini Green. They got the honeycomb and covered Candyman's naked body with the honeycomb. Candyman was stung thousands of times and died a slow, painful death. His ashes were scattered all over Cabrini Green. As the legends have it, say "Candyman" five times with the lights turned off or four times with the lights on and on the fifth time, turn off the lights and he will appear behind you, breathing heavily and then cut you up. My friend tried it and three minutes after she did it, she felt something stinging her ankle... then her legs... and then her fingers. After ten minutes, the pain was gone-because she was dead!! The Barrel

There was this couple in Scotland who had just moved into an old castle. When they moved in, they decided to empty out the wine cellar and found this large barrel of brandy. They tried moving it and even got a few friends around to help, but they couldn't budge it. In the end, they decided to have a housewarming party and give glasses of brandy out to empty the barrel and make it easier to move. A few days after the party, they went into the cellar and tried to move the barrel again. It still wouldn't move. The husband went to get his saw in order to cut it into smaller pieces and in turns they cut off the top of the barrel. Inside was a dead body and they had drank the brandy that had preserved it.

FIGHTING TO THE FINISH!!!

The final face-off place in Hempsted NY, on Wednesday between Barack Obama and John McCain. The two candidates went back and forward at each other about taxes, the economy, campaign adds and how it is best to help Joe the plumber, who's name came up during the debate. This effects my life because who ever wins will be able to do whatever they want for the next four years. Another way this presidential race effects my life is that I really care about who becomes president even though I am a child and I can not vote, I have watched every single debate and I am very glad that Barack Obama had won the last debate!

The article was about how gas prices go up fast,and how slowly the gas prices take to go down.The article mainly takes place in Illinois.In the article it stated how gas prices always Rose then droped slowly. Gas prices would be a high price for a while then slowly decrease by it's price. The reason why gas prices were always lowering and rising is because of the poor economy. Another reason why gas prices are high is because the price of a barrel of gas for the station, and because people needed lots of gallons of gas. The article affects my life because my mom buys gas and she drives a truck.For my mom she would need several gallons causing her to spend money. Leaving her with not enough money to supply us with groceries, clothes,and school materials.

The leader Al Qaeda died in Iraq. It takes place in Nothern Iraq. The leader Al Qeada died on on Oct.5. They announced it on Wednesday oct.15. ''They said The death of such a senoir Al Qeada leader will cause a major disruption to the terror network, particulary in Nothern Iraq, where the movement remains active,'' the milatary said . The U.S force in Iraq have been finalized but refused to discuss any details. The people in Iraq might lose the war and everyrthing would be messed up. Something might happen to our state or country.

I say kids need a spanking

I think that kids need a spanking to put them in their place.If you let your kids get away with doing something wrong and not spanking them,then they will take controll of you. I am a kid,and if you get a spanking and you get mad, you need to stop and think about what just happened. The reason that you are mad is because you just got in trouble for something you did not have any business doing in the first place. Everyone was born on this earth to think for themselves. So if you choose to go do something bad, that is your choice.

McCain and Obama meet for final debate

Sen. John McCain( Ari) and Sen. Barack Obama (Ill) debated for the final time at Hofstra University in New York. The debate was a good opportunity to see the two candidates explain their ideas and policies at to why they should be president. It was also a chance to see the difference between Democrats and Republicans: active government vs.limited government. Republicans are in favor of individual responsiblilty and they would like to limit government programs. Whereas Democrats believe that the federal government should improve the lives of all its citizens through social programs.

Book review of Roll Of Thunder Hear My Cry

This book is taking place around end of slavery. It’s mostly about kids named Cassie , Littleman ,Stacey, and Christopher-John.
They learn about friendship . One kid hangs around with some white people and gets beat up. The main character in this story is Cassie , a girl who has a bit of a attitude with people around her. Thr story takes place on a house on a land called Granger land . These men try to take the land from the Logans.
These people did everything in there power to take the land.The kids grandfather bought the land long ago and worked himself to death years after he bought the land. He died and the family tried hard to keep the land. So that’s just some of the things that happens in this wonderful story. If you want to know more read the book!

Dear Fellow Students,

It has been stated that there are clown kidnapper's going around kidnapping young students like you and me.The clown's have been spotted by several others at Davis Park,Lafoyette park, Garfield Park,Galewood Park,and Marshall High school.They have also been spotted at our school. The clown's go all around the metropolitan area driving in a white van, and a blue van with a brown wood-like stripe throughout the middle,maybe even a brown van. There are six clowns total; two to three have been caught and arrested leaving three or four still roaming the neighborhoods . Kid's, if you want to be safe, stop walking the neighborhoods by yourself or even walk to the corner store. Play it safe by staying in large crowds...!!!!

This aricle was about how clifford A.K.A T.I is going to prison for buying machine guns and silencers. Now he have to server time for a whole year in 2009. 28 years ago former rapper T.I was a drug dealer in Alanta who transformed to a rapper. I think as one of his fans that he should serve the time like my sister say don't do the crime if you don't want to do the time and now have T.I have to do the time. I have one question why was he even buyimg guns in the first place he is realsing his new reality show on m.t.v.I only have one more thing to say T.I derserve what ever he get comming!!!!!!! My opionion is that if McCain wants to win more votes he should talk about different issues, and listen to the people for what they need help with. He should put these things into action and not just promise them until he gets into the white house

Rumors are spreading that movie star/Maybelline makeup commercial representative Queen Latifah is gay. She will not give a direct answer to this puzzling question. she says that she doesn't mind discussing the topic of someone being gay but she does mind discussing her personal life and she feels that she does not have to and i know that she won't unless she pleases to. "Assume what you want, you do it anyway" she states. If she is then it won't make a difference to me, i will still love all of her former and future work. if she's like that it's because she wants to be i mean get off her case. when she wants to she'll leave a sign or give an answer. some people just want to know so they can make fun. why do people care anyway? If they were in her position with millions looking up to you and being around boogie celebrities would't you be confused too and plus it's probably just a phase she's going through anyway but we'll never know until we find out. until then , mind your own business!

Another child lost to violence

13 year old Sameer Conn shot in gang related shooting on 106th  and Benson.  He was coming home from football practice and stopped at a neighborhood corner store along with some friends to grab snacks because he got hungry. The Chicago Southside is totally affected by this incident because other citizens know,but dont want to tell on them because it is their loved ones.  I feel that people should be alarmed by this because people are losing their lives to violence everyday!!!!!!!

Engineer texted 22 seconds before crash

A commuter train engineer sent a text message seconds before crashing into an oncoming train. They killed him and 24 other people. Sanchez sent a message at 4:22 moments before Metro Link 111 train slammed into the Union Pacific freight train.He got a message mintues before.

COP PLEADS NOT GUILTY IN FATAL CRASH

Chicago Police Officer John Ardelean pleaded not guilty Wednesday after drunk and reckless driving. Ardelean was charged with drunk driving and murder after killing Erick Laguna and Miguel Flores. I think that Ardelean is guilty. There is alot of commericals where the law tells us not to drink and drive, then here comes the law Officer John Adelean commiting the crime. This caused him to crash and kill two innocent men. Hes been charged twice with this and denies both. Just confess up Mr. John Ardelean!

chinese outraged at milk scandal

This article was about how the Chinese people babies have been killed from the infant formula mlik.50,000 babies are sickend from that milk. Now parents are taking there babies to the beijing hosipital for ultrasounds and to receive blood. The milk came from a company called Sanlu Group Co. the U.S doesn't allow dairy products from chinese people. Some familes are saying they use Sanlu milk because they think it is an excellent product said Tang Zhongjun father. Tang suffers from malnutrition and keeps falling. They do not plan to sue the company.
If that was me I would sue them because my child is suffering from malnutrition from drinking that milk.That is what this article was about.

In my classroom is so cool.We do alot of things,like reading, math, and playing lots of games.some of my friends are cool some are, just plain crazy.

Out a bit early current events news report

i know that it must be difficult the families and friends of Micheal Dahlquist, John Glick, and Douglas Meis to understand why you get sententenced to 8 years and only doing 3 yearsof the time [even if you were mentally ill and trying to commit suicide] for killing three innocent city citezens/musicans because i'm not and i didn't even know any of the vitims. It makes me sad to see how justice is served and how crazy people can be but also at the same time i feel sorry for Jeannette Sliwinski( the criminal) because she really had to be going trough some problems or she had to b e really sick to want to kill herself and now people aren't going to treat her the same now and everyday she has to live with the burden of murder on her hands so i'm torn. im on both sides and i cannot decide which i am more upset about. i know that the victim's loved ones who cannot understand because of too much pain and hurt in the way of your thoughtfullness, it may be hard and it may not ever happen but it wold be nice to forgive but not forget.

Hello class. My name is Ahmad Bridget, your 6th grade teacher here at Ella Flagg Young school. This will be my 7th year teaching here and I am looking forward to working with you to make this a great year of learning. What is a blog? A blog is a website maintained by an individual or group of people, with regular commentary, descriptions of events, graphics and video. This blog that I have set-up will be used in a few different ways. One of them is to get you familiar with working on your writing by using computers. You will post your opinions on different subjects that is going on in your community, our city and the world. You will also use this blog to complete "blog-only" writing assignments. That means you will be graded on what you write in response to a posted question by the me, the administrator of the blog.
